In response to the news of the merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, Brooks Koepka has criticized Brandel Chamblee.

Post PGA Tour-LIV Golf Merger Brooks Koepka Takes A Dig At Brandel Chamblee

Analyst Brandel Chamblee is one guy who will undoubtedly be unhappy with the new shock golf tours merging.

The LIV Golf Series and the PGA Tour have agreed to unite, which is a ground-breaking development for the golf industry. Along with the DP World Tour as well, all three Tours will be forming a ‘new and bigger golf entity’.

Following the revelation on Tuesday that the PGA Tour and DP World Tour have decided to integrate commercial operations with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf, the professional golf world responded with feelings ranging from amusement to incredulity to victory.

When LIV Golf began operations last year, Phil Mickelson—a six-time major champion—may have been the most well-known player to leave the PGA Tour. Mickelson lost sponsors as a result of the choice.

Brooks Koepka, a different LIV golfer, was likewise exultant. Koepka won the US PGA Championship this year, but he has gotten into arguments with those who think LIV players compromised their morals for the enormous sums of money offered on the Saudi-sponsored tour. One of LIV’s biggest critics has been the Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee, who said last month that “any yielding to or agreement with [LIV] is a deal with a murderous dictator”.

“As I have said many times, LIV Golf is not so much a sports entity as it is MBS / Saudi Arabia trying to hide their atrocities and launder its reputation by buying sports stars,” he tweeted. “Any yielding to or agreement with them is a deal with a murderous dictator.”

On Tuesday, Koepka greeted news of the merger by tweeting “Welfare Check on Chamblee”.

The three groups’ surprising announcement of their merger intends to expand the numerous programs already in place while also offering fans new and exciting golf. In a statement, it was stated:

“The parties have signed an agreement that combines PIF’s golf-related commercial businesses and rights (including LIV Golf) with the commercial businesses and rights of the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour into a new, collectively owned, for-profit entity to ensure that all stakeholders benefit from a model that delivers maximum excitement and competition among the game’s best players.”

Kopeka, Phil Mickelson, and Bryson DeChambeau are just a few of the LIV athletes that Chamblee has previously criticized for allegedly helping the Saudi government “sports wash” their image. Speaking of Mickelson, the six-time major champion immediately tweeted: “Awesome day today,” along with a happy face emoji, in response to the merger news.

The players who decided to join Greg Norman’s golf circuit the previous year had their memberships cancelled or were expelled from the tour. However, after the 2023 season, LIV players will have the chance to reapply for their PGA Tour membership according to the merger’s announcement.
