Post Joel Embiid’s Recent Comments NBA Insiders Are Talking Knicks Trade

The New York Knicks had been holding out hope that the NBA MVP for 2022–23 will ask for a move as a result of Philadelphia’s hazy future. Since being selected by the Sixers in the 2014 draft, Joel Embiid has shown nothing but loyalty, so his recent words come as a surprise.

Embiid is without a doubt the Knicks’ top trade target.

The sports world is playing “Guess Who?” in response to Joel Embiid’s most recent remarks.

The great center stated in an interview with Maverick Carter that winning an NBA championship is his top priority, “whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else.”

“I just want to win a championship. Whatever it takes. I don’t know where that’s gonna be. Whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else. I just want to have a chance.”

The front office was put off by Paul George’s desire to sign a maximum deal and the Clippers’ asking price for the 33-year-old last summer, which led to New York not making a trade for Donovan Mitchell. The same thing happened this summer. Embiid may have just provided the answer Knicks fans have been looking for about the route Leon Rose will take.

After the 2023 league MVP made news by declaring that he wants to win a championship, either with Philadelphia or “anywhere else,” ESPN’s Zach Lowe and Dave McMenamin discussed Embiid’s future with a different club.

A short Amtrak train journey will take you to McMenamin’s option for the big man’s new residence.

“I mean line up the Acela Express and send him up to New York,” McMenamin said on an episode of Lowe’s The Lowe Post podcast. “That’s been what has been the murmurs. [Lowe] said New York, we’ve all heard New York, we know the connection between Leon Rose and Joel Embiid.

“We also know, quite frankly, that Daryl Morey came into a situation that was largely set up before him and he will continue to craft that team in the fashion that he wants it to look like.

“And Joel Embiid, now that he has the stamp on his resume of being the reigning MVP, he should be applying pressure  to make the urgent window exist in this moment for Philadelphia.”

Joel Embiid didn’t make a trade request. The Sixers have not yet begun to consider Joel Embiid’s trade demands. Yes, if the 29-year-old opted to leave Philadelphia, it would take an incredibly large trade package for the Knicks to get him.

In Embiid’s six postseason appearances for Philadelphia, the team never advanced past the Eastern Conference semifinals, leading some to theorize that if he departs the organization, the Knicks could stand to gain the most.
