Post Appealing To Jets, Canadian Football League Shows Interest In Colin Kaepernick?
After Aaron Rodgers’ injury, the New York Jets are back to square one, attempting to win football games with Zach Wilson, and it’s not working well. One quarterback, though, is aggressively seeking a job with the Jets: Colin Kaepernick.
Kaepernick wrote to the Jets’ general manager last week in a letter released on social media by artist J. Cole, outlining why he hoped the team would give him a shot on the practice squad.
Kaepernick, 35, indicated that he would assist the defense prepare for Weeks 4, 5, and 6, while also allowing the club to assess him without putting Zach Wilson under pressure.

“I would be honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to come in and lead the practice squad,” Kaepernick wrote. “I would do this with the sole mission of getting your defense ready each week. If I were able to fill this role, I believe this allows for multiple things.”
“Worst case scenario, you see what I have to offer and you’re not that impressed. “Best case scenario,” Kaepernick wrote, “you realize you have a real weapon at your disposal in the event you ever need to use it.” “In either of these scenarios, I would be committed to getting your defense ready week in and week out, all season long, and I would wear that responsibility like a badge of honor.”

Regardless, a Canadian Football League team has apparently expressed interest in Kaepernick. The quarterback has been added to the BC Lions’ negotiating list, according to TSN.
“By including them on their negotiation lists, each CFL team can claim exclusive CFL rights to up to 45 players.” According to CFL, “players can be added, removed, or traded from the list at any time.”

Signing with a CFL team would help Kaepernick’s career by allowing him to return to the league without many of the problems that he would face in the NFL. Furthermore, if he performs well, other clubs have the right to give him a lengthier look in the hopes of bolstering their quarterback group.

It’s unknown whether the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback will accept CFL offers. The 35-year-old has been out of the league since his 2016 choice to kneel during the national anthem sparked outrage around the league. Since then, he has compared the NFL Draft to a slave sale, advocated for the elimination of law enforcement, and claimed that the NFL has done nothing to address social inequities.
