Poor Play-Call Lead To Giants Loss Against Seahawks In Week 4
On Monday night, the Seattle Seahawks’ defence shone as they defeated the New York Giants 24-3 at MetLife Stadium. QB Daniel Jones of the Giants was sacked 10 times and turned the ball over three times.
Poor Play-Call Lead To Giants Loss Against Seahawks In Week 4
The Giants’ offence is a train wreck. Jones has returned to his previous turnover-prone form. As a result, the Giants’ season has suddenly slipped away after only four bad games. Jones fumbled and threw two interceptions, one of which was returned 97 yards for a score with the game still in hand. He didn’t get much assistance.
The Giants chose an excessively conservative play call, and Jones handed off to Matt Breida for a 4-yard gain before punting to end the half.
Most bizarre touchdown this NFL season!
Was he down 👀‼️

However, Daboll confirmed after the game that they had called for a pass, which Jones misheard and then delivered the incorrect play to his teammates in the huddle.
The offensive line was a shambles, allowing 11 sacks. Six penalties were called on the Giants’ special teams. This was a disaster. As the season progresses, the Giants will need to do something with road games in Miami and Buffalo on deck. It could get worse before it gets better.
.@Seahawks v @Giants look at this Seahawk offensive line. No day 1 starters from 3 weeks ago in their positions; yet they can still function. You have to ask yourself WHY?? #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/F4G55ucedt

It portrayed a picture of perplexity on the Giants quarterback’s face as boos rained down at MetLife Stadium following yet another botched offensive play during the team’s humbling 24-3 “Monday Night Football” defeat to the Seahawks, swiftly transforming to disappointment.
“That was a miscommunication,” Daboll said. “It was not [the call].” It was a miscommunication. Daniel thought he heard something, one thing, and it was another thing and a miscommunication.”

Broadcasts showed Jones seeming perplexed as he spoke to Daboll on the sideline following the play.
Daboll approached Jones as he exited the field, apparently agitated, and said something to the fifth-year quarterback.
Jones appeared to ignore his head coach and walked right by him without addressing him or what he was attempting to convey.

“I was trying to show him — kind of see what he thought and then kind of tell him what I saw,” Daboll told reporters in response to that question.
What was supposed to happen in the play that ended up going the wrong way for a touchdown?
“Yeah, I’m not gonna get into the particulars of it,” Daboll said. “Just, we didn’t get the job done.”

Brian Daboll was clearly upset with his quarterback’s decision to make the throw and was seen berating him as he walked off the field on the sideline.
Jones did not throw a touchdown pass in the Giants’ 24-3 loss, which lowered them to 1-3. He concluded the night with 27 completions for 203 yards.

“Daniel is a coachable person,” Daboll said. “If things aren’t going great, again, I’m not exactly sure what the cameras did or did not show, but Daniel is a coachable guy. I like working with Daniel. There’s some things we gotta do better.”
Jones’ pick-six was one of two interceptions and three turnovers in yet another nightmare prime-time performance.
It’s ok for us to expect more. OL wasn’t perfect—but we can’t put these plays on them.

Witherspoon jumped the route on a ball meant for Parris Campbell, who looked to be on a different page than Jones and returned it 97 yards for a score, thus ending any Giants comeback attempt.
