Phoenix Suns Coach Monty Williams ‘Happy to See’ Chris Paul ‘Aggressive’ After 28-Point Performance vs LeBron James’ Lakers

The 37-year-old Chris Paul appeared to be losing some ground to Father Time in recent months. On Monday night, the 12-time All-Star showed he’s not giving up easily. Deandre Ayton added 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Chris Paul scored a season-high 28 points as the Phoenix Suns defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 130-104 on Monday night. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook were not on the Lakers’ roster.

In the rout victory, the Suns performed nearly every task flawlessly. They had a 51-36 lead in rebounds, hit 20 3-pointers, shot 50% from the field, and committed only eight turnovers.

Suns coach hails ‘aggressive’ Chris Paul

“I was happy to see him aggressive, knocking down shots and taking shots,” Suns coach Monty Williams said“Everyone on the team, we tell Chris to shoot the ball. It’s the most unbelievable thing ever – having to tell a Hall of Fame player to shoot.”

After Patrick Beverley’s celebration during the Los Angeles Lakers loss to the Phoenix Suns, which seemed to poke light at the 37-year-height, old’s Chris Paul ordered him to “just play basketball, bro.”

On Monday, after the Suns had won 130-104, Paul halted the celebration. Paul fouled Beverley after he made a layup and appeared to indicate that his opponent was too little to handle him by raising his hand just over the floor. Although Paul’s outstanding career has been built more on distributing the ball than scoring, the Suns needed his output with Booker sitting on the bench.
