PGA Star Jon Rahm To Receive A Big Contract From LIV Golf? Rumors Or Reality?
The rumors surrounding LIV Golf and the reigning Masters winner Jon Rahm are getting more intense. Unverified rumours claim that the Saudi-backed league has made the two-time major champion an offer of $600 million to leave the PGA Tour.
PGA Star Jon Rahm To Receive A Big Contract From LIV Golf? Rumors Or Reality?
It was claimed that Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were both offered more, but they turned it down. And while the source of the league’s funding is undoubtedly debatable, those who stole the money have been incredibly safe for generations—far more so than they were in the past.
The rumours began after Jon Rahm left the Palm Beach Gardens-based virtual golf league called TGL, which was created by Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods. There are already increasing speculations that the world’s third-ranked golfer is thinking seriously about switching to LIV Golf.

According to a number of sources, Rahm is reportedly in advanced negotiations for a possible $600 million with the Saudi-backed league. If Rahm makes the move, he’ll probably join the squad led by Sergio Garcia, another Spaniard.
Rahm is apparently only going to sign with LIV if the league modifies its structure. LIV is controlled by Saudi’s Public Investment Fund, which is estimated to have around $800 billion in assets. The league has 14 54-hole tournaments with 12 four-player teams.

The Tour fell succumbed to the concept of a merger earlier this year rather than continuing to fight a lost financial struggle for years to come, in large part because of the crazy money the fund threw into making LIV equal with the famed tour. This is one of the reasons why the two golf leagues became fierce rivals. However, even though the merger was announced months ago, it doesn’t appear to be any closer to completion.
With the merger uncertain and a deadline in December approaching, it has raised the annual issue of whether more PGA players will switch to LIV should the rivalry resurface. Although the amount of movement has not been quite as great as it was in 2022, anything is always conceivable when LIV may make insane offers.

Other remarks regarding LIV that Rahm has made:
“I want to play against the best in the world in a format that’s been going on for hundreds of years,” Rahm said about the PGA Tour. “That’s what I want to see. Yeah, money is great, but when Kelley (Rahm’s wife) and I … started talking about it, and we’re like, will our lifestyle change if I got $400 million? No, it will not change one bit.”
“I consider the PGA Tour has done an amazing job giving us the best platform for us to perform,” he said last summer. “I do see the appeal that other people see towards the LIV Golf. I do see some of the — I’ll put this delicately — points or arguments they can make towards why they prefer it.”

Along with the great Seve Ballesteros, Rahm became the second Spanish player to win two major championships in 2021. He also won the U.S. Open. Additionally, he played for the European Ryder Cup squad that defeated the United States in Rome earlier this month.
