“People Should Not Be Defending Me Over This Thing”- Dana White Sends a Message After Hitting His Wife

The new year did not get off to a good start for the UFC and its President, Dana White. The 53-year-old rang in the new year in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with his wife and his three children. However, things took a turn for the worse on New Year’s eve when White and his wife got involved in an ugly spat. In a video shared by TMZ, White and his wife appeared to be arguing before Anne White slapped her husband. The 53-year-old paused for a second before slapping his wife.

The UFC head honcho has faced the wrath of the fans as well as pundits who have bashed him for domestic violence. Since the incident, Dana White released an interview with TMZ itself where he said that there were no excuses for his behaviour and that he was extremely sorry to both his wife as well as his children. While many expected the UFC and Endeavour to release statements condemning White’s actions, no such thing happened.

Dana White makes his first appearance

The UFC was on a month long-break and is set to make its return this weekend with Sean Strickland taking on Nassourdine Imavov. Ahead of the event, White appeared in a press conference for the first time since the video was leaked.

When asked about the incident he said, “It’s something I’m going to have to deal with and live with for the rest of my life,” White said. “There’s never an excuse. I’m sure you guys have read some of the same stuff that I’ve seen. There’s no defense for this, and people should not be defending me over this thing, no matter what. All the criticism that I have received this week is 100 percent warranted and will receive in the future…”

Since the incident took place, stars such as Kyle Kuzma, and Jamie Foxx, among others, have bashed both Dana White and ESPN for the lack of coverage of the incident. It will be interesting to see how this develops and if any of the companies involved make a statement against Dana White.
