“People in This Society Have a Hard Time Hearing Truth Sometimes”- Aaron Rodgers on His Public Criticism of Teammates

Four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers knows a thing or two about performing at the highest level and, more importantly, doing so on a consistent basis. This is something that Aaron Rodgers is trying to demand of his team as he aims to get them out of a slump. His method of doing so is by criticizing players publicly even though he has not taken any names in particular. While Aaron Rodgers feels this is the right way to go about things, his detractors do not feel the same way.

Critics believe that calling out teammates in public is not something that a veteran of the sport and a leader in Aaron Rodgers should be doing. In a recent interview, Rodgers shared his thoughts on why he has taken this approach.

He said, “People in this society have a hard time hearing truth sometimes. I did do it privately,” Rodgers said. “I’m not saying anything [publicly] that I’m not saying to those guys. So, maybe that’s talking about a conversation that’s behind closed doors in public, but the level of accountability is the standard here.

Rodgers continued, “Again, I don’t think it should be a problem to any of those guys to hear criticism. We all hear criticism in our own ways, and we’ve all got to be OK with it and take it in and process it. And if it doesn’t fit, then it doesn’t fit. But if it fits, we’ve got to wear it and improve on those certain things.”

A closer look at the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers in 2022

Seven games into the 2022 season, Rodgers stands at 1,597 yards thrown (10th in the league), 11 touch downs (tied for 6th in the league) and a quarterback rating of 40.5 on average.

Rodgers’ receiving corps this year is relatively new and inexperienced, which has cost both the Packers and Rodgers wins on multiple occasions. Only time will tell if Rodgers’ method of criticizing his players publicly will light a fire under them or make them resent Rodgers.
