Patrick Mahomes Shares Why He Would ‘Appreciate’ a Second Lombardi Trophy a Lot More Than His Maiden Win
Going into the 2022 season, the Buffalo Bills were the firm favorites to win the title. However, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs were right behind them. It was widely considered that the Bills and the Chiefs would be two of the most dominant teams and six game weeks into the 2022 season, that has not been far from the truth.
The Chiefs currently have a record of 4-2 so far this season and in their last game, they lost 24-20 to Josh Allen and his men. Next up for Patrick Mahomes are the 49ers. This is the first game of consequence for the two sides since their Super Bowl encounter in February 2020.
Patrick Mahomes will play his 70th career game Sunday.

Ahead of the game, Mahomes was asked about their previous encounter and what it would mean to him to win another Super Bowl. He said, “Yeah, I think I would appreciate it more now than I did back when I was young. That and winning the MVP early in my career. I think I just kind of thought that’s just what you did — you went out there and played football for coach [Andy] Reid and you win the MVP, and you win Super Bowls,”

Mahomes continued, “But now I see what the grind and being in there every single day and not succeeding and not winning the Super Bowl. I think if I had the chance to go out there and win another one, I think I’ll appreciate it even more.”

Despite losing out on key players such as Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs have been solid from an offensive point of view this season. Their two losses this season have come at the hands of the Bills and an unexpected loss at the hands of the Colts.
"They're both coming into the prime of their career where their knowledge of the game is meeting up with their physical capabilities."

Mahomes has thrown for 1,736 yards (3rd in the league), 17 touchdowns (tied for first in the league), and a quarterback rating of 74.2. If Mahomes and the Chiefs can fix a few areas of weaknesses, they can very well lift the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season in February. However, at this point in time, it does not look very likely.
