Patrick Beverley & Raptors Beef Has Turned Into A Never-Ending Saga

Drama is what the NBA, more than any other American league, feeds off of. One of the dramas is the never-ending beef between Patrick Beverley & Raptors!

Even in the sweltering heat of the offseason, no other professional sports league can fascinate fans and keep social media buzzing like the Association, whether it’s on or off the court.

Patrick Beverley & Raptors Beef Has Turned Into A Never-Ending Saga

As one of the NBA’s top agitators, Philadelphia 76ers player Patrick Beverley has targeted the Toronto Raptors on a podcast on several occasions.

Beverley now has a podcast through which he can express his opinions, whether they are analytical or disparaging.

Anybody who isn’t on Beverley’s side is likely to be the target of disrespectful remarks. The 76ers guard opened fire on the Raptors before the 2023–24 season, bringing a fresh perspective to an already intense rivalry.

Beverley and Rone, his co-host, gave a preview of the NBA season on Episode 54 of the “Pat Bev Podcast,” organizing teams into groups. As soon as the Raptors were brought up, Beverley immediately identified what he thought was the team’s greatest weakness.

“Who’s the dog on that team?” Asks Beverley.

When his co-host proposed that O.G. Anunoby or Pascal Siakam take on that job, Beverley said, “I’m cool.”

“[If] I see Anunoby down a dark alley, I’m cool — I don’t feel [anything],” Beverley said. I notice Siakam in a shadowy corner, but I don’t feel in danger.

“And this isn’t any disrespect for them but if I see Siakam with a ball in his hand and it’s a dark alley and it’s a rim in that b—, OK, cool, this who I got [to go against] for the throne? I feel good about it.”

Beverley was questioned about which NBA player he saw as a “dirty player.” Pat Bev responded with frank honesty:

“Chris Paul,” Beverley said in reply. “It’s a shock when you say it in front of people who’s not in the basketball world, but when you say it in front of basketball players and referees — even referees. (They will say) ‘Okay, yeah, that doesn’t surprise me.”

In addition, Beverley divulged that Paul, a 12-time All-Star, often pushes opponents from behind when attempting a layup or grabs your knee during a lost ball play—a behavior Pat Bev insisted he would never partake in.

Beverley asserted that the Raptors need a top player who inspires fear in the eyes of the opposition and toughness.

Beverley claims he is not scared of Siakam and Anunoby, but the two strikers have shown time and time again that they are difficult to play against.

Beverley was in Toronto for an early-season game against the Raptors, just days after his remarks went viral. Even though Beverley only played for 17 minutes and scored two points, the Sixers defeated the other team 114-107, and he was a plus-10 in the box score.

Beverley went on to say that he chuckled at Barnes’s attempts to scare him throughout the game by bumping into him and calling him names. Beverley claims that after asking Barnes about it at halftime and bringing up their summer pick-up runs, Barnes apologized and said, “My bad.”

“Keep it gangster. It’s funny, people run into me and they see me but when we get refs and it’s 20,000 people, it’s very different,” Beverley said of his encounters with other NBA players.

“And that’s how I knew we were gonna win, too. That’s not your character. That’s the s— I know, I wouldn’t say mind games but if I see a weakness, I’m going to hit it.”

Beverley’s analysis of the circumstances and his readiness to restate his initial arguments suggest that there will undoubtedly be more tension present when the 76ers and Raptors play this season.
