Pat McAfee Roasts Bill Simmons: ‘keep running your mouth’

Pat McAfee and Bill Simmons are two of the most volatile figures in sports journalism, and while their professional paths have certain parallels, they have generally avoided each other.

Pat McAfee Roasts Bill Simmons: ‘Keep running your mouth’

That all changed on Monday, though, when McAfee attacked Simmons over the number of individuals who participated in the creator of The Ringer’s unsuccessful FanDuel wager for Super Bowl LVIII.

This football season, Simmons has been impersonating McAfee on his own podcast. Apparently, this has irritated the former Colts punter, who responded to Simmons on Monday by telling him to “keep running your mouth.”

During the weekly football podcast hosted by “Cousin” Sal Iacono last month, Simmons unveiled his portrayal of McAfee.

“McAfee’s created a new version of how to do this,” Simmons said.

“He starts the show and then it’s like, ‘Cowboys man, I don’t know man. I don’t know. What’s going on there bro?’ And then it cuts to his like three people, and they’ll be like ‘I don’t know.’ And then it’ll go back to him and it’s like ‘Not good bro. Not good. Not — keep an eye on that bro’.”

Cousin Sal chimed in, “Two of them are looking to take their first cigarette break…”

On The Pat McAfee Show, he stated, “I think Bill Simmons, who has it all figured out, I think he had like 8,000 people riding alongside him.” “That’s a huge number that did not hit. That’s really big. Really good, Bill. You still have it. I think we had 250,000 people or something like that. Keep running your mouth, Bill.”

Although it’s unclear precisely what McAfee meant to say when he said, “keep running your mouth,” all indications suggest that this was a reaction to Simmons’ portrayal of the former All-Pro punter that he gave last month.
