Pat McAfee Has Been ‘Officially Served’ In Brett Favre Lawsuit

The defamation lawsuit filed by Brett Favre against talk show host Pat McAfee is no longer only a rumour.

On Monday, McAfee began his programme by saying that he had been “formally” served over the weekend, informing him that he is a party to Favre’s extensive lawsuit, along with Shannon Sharpe and a representative of the Mississippi government.

McAfee said that he received the documents on Sunday and added, “Here we go!” before his crew applauded.

According to Dailymail.com, the case is currently being heard in Purvis, Mississippi’s Lamar County Circuit Court. Favre lives in Sumrall, Lamar County, by the way.

In addition to FS1 personality Shannon Sharpe and Mississippi Auditor Shad White, Favre is suing them for making “defamatory claims” about the Packers legend’s participation in a $77 million welfare fraud scheme.

Favre is a key player in what is being referred to as the biggest public corruption case in Mississippi history, which centres on misappropriated state welfare payments. Moreover, the former NFL punter has blasted Favre on his show a number of occasions.

The suit alleges McAfee spread “outrageous falsehoods” on the air, accusing the Hall of Fame quarterback of “steal(ing) from the poor,” “(taking) money right out of their pockets” and “stealing from poor people in Mississippi.”

McAfee later expanded on the suit, revealing he had momentary anxiety and fundamentally cannot comprehend why he is being sued.

‘I don’t fully comprehend how it’s happened…I’m gonna have to hire a lawyer ’cause there’s so much f****** s*** that goes in it – which I don’t love about the American process that somebody can file a fugaze lawsuit against somebody.”

‘It’s money, whatever. I’ve been broke before. I don’t understand how we were the ones chosen for this particular lawsuit… but I’ll continue to reiterate, excited to see how it all goes. Pretty excited about it.”
