Paolo Banchero’s Exit From the Summer League Shows How Fans Have Been Constantly Disappointed by the NBA

Paolo Banchero, the Orlando Magic’s top choice, has impressed them in both of his NBA Summer League games thus far. According to rumors, Banchero won’t continue to play in the Summer League because Magic wants other players to earn opportunity now. In his Summer League debut last Thursday, Banchero contributed 17 points, four rebounds, and six assists to help Orlando defeat the Houston Rockets 91-77.

The NBA and the broadcasters heavily publicized the major game between two highly anticipated rookies, such as the Orlando Magic‘s Paolo Banchero and No. 2 selection Chet Holmgren’s Oklahoma City Thunder last Monday. The matchup was scheduled for ESPN with the precise matchup you’d expect: Banchero vs. Holmgren.

Banchero didn’t take the field that evening against Holmgren, though. Additionally, he won’t wear a uniform during the summer league. Orlando removed him from all upcoming summer contests before tip because, essentially, its decision-makers had had enough.

Fan favorite NBA stars such as Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Steph Curry aren’t playing enough

Paolo Banchero is only the most recent illustration of what I believe to be the NBA’s biggest issue. Fans don’t get to watch the athletes they most want to. The NBA physically shifts the start time of free agency so that tweets can fly and TV coverage can soar while the majority of fans are awake because it feeds on soap-opera material.

Ben Simmons, John Wall, Kawhi Leonard, Jamal Murray, and Zion Williamson did not participate in a single game during the previous campaign. A total of 291 games were missed by Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Paul George, Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, and Bradley Beal last season. They have each been selected for 36 All-Star teams. LeBron, Curry, and Durant missed 71 games a year ago, just for good measure.

But all too frequently, for whatever reason, a big NBA game is marketed, and viewers who pay to attend or settle in at home do so without seeing their favorite players on the field.
