When compared to the excitement surrounding them before the season, the club has significantly underperformed. One of the main problems for this team has been their attack, which has been wildly erratic from the start.

Joe Musgrove, the team’s starter, is already out, while Yu Darvish was just placed on the disabled list on Monday.

Joe Musgrove, a valued pitcher worth $100 million to the Padres who has been plagued by injuries and waning postseason hopes, has expressed his displeasure with the team’s difficult circumstances.

The Padres’ pitching rotation has been further weakened as a result of top pitcher Yu Darvish being placed on the 15-day disabled list due to right elbow inflammation. This is a setback for a squad that is already suffering without important players like Joe Musgrove and Jake Cronenworth.

Musgrove succinctly encapsulated his feelings on the current season.

“It feels like we’re doomed,” Musgrove, who also missed time at the beginning of the season with a fractured left big toe, said Monday afternoon. “From the get-go, we just haven’t had any breaks go our way. And down the stretch, when you feel like this is your last-ditch effort to really make a push and get back in it, to be shot down with ‘Croney’ going out and then find out ‘Darv’ is going out.”

MRI findings for Darvish’s elbow inflammation are still waiting, thus his condition is still unknown. Bob Melvin, the manager of the San Diego Padres, underlined the need of being cautious and aggressive with Yu Darvish’s condition. Despite a difficult season filled with setbacks, Darvish’s absence will be felt keenly owing to his crucial position in the rotation.

With a little more than a month remaining in the season, the Friars are seeking for any means of solving their problems. Their battles haven’t been simple, and the future doesn’t seem good for them at the moment.

The club, though, isn’t given up and believes they can turn things around as long as they remain mathematically viable. They have been able to remain even when circumstances are gloomy because of their confidence.

The San Diego Padres are presently in fourth place in the National League West, five games back of the San Francisco Giants.
