Overtime Elite 2022: Best Players, Salaries, Schedule & More

With the 16-to-20-year-old player’s basketball league Overtime Elite, Amazon’s Prime Video has established a multiyear, international distribution deal that will see the streamer exclusively air 20 live games every season for the following three seasons. In addition, in the middle of 2023, Prime Video will debut an unscripted season-long series centred on the YA league Overtime Elite (OTE).

As part of the agreement, which makes Amazon OTE’s first global partner for media rights, Amazon also contributed to Overtime’s Series D capital round.

On Friday and Saturday nights starting on November 4, the 20 OTE games will be streamed live on Prime Video from Atlanta’s OTE Arena. Social media company AMP will be a part of the broader on-air broadcast crew.

What Is Overtime Elite (OTE)?

OTE was introduced in 2021 as an alternative to high school basketball, as usual. If they intend to turn pro as soon as possible, players who join the league may get a salary; otherwise, they can decline the cash and keep their collegiate eligibility. These youthful hoopers can still make money off of their fame, likeness, and reputation.

OTE Best Players

In 2022, Overtime Elite is expanding.

The Atlanta-based basketball league is growing its roster and level of competition as it enters its second season.

The addition of three out-of-state teams—Hillcrest Academy (Arizona), Word of God Academy (North Carolina), and Our Savior Lutheran—doubled the size of the league (New York). The three national powerhouses teamed up with City Reapers, Yng Dreamerz, and Cold Hearts, three teams from Overtime that are loaded with excellent potential.

In year two, these teams will face off against one another as well. In 2022, the teams will play a nationwide schedule, with matches scheduled in cities like Atlanta, Phoenix, Raleigh, New York City, and New Jersey.

The preseason tournament for Overtime Elite’s 2022 season will feature the club teams of Bronny and Bryce James, Cameron and Cayden Boozer, Jared McCain, and others.

Although Bronny isn’t a member of the Overtime Elite league, he will represent California Basketball Club in the season-opening competition in Atlanta on the weekend of Thursday, October 20.

The City Reapers, which features Amen and Ausar Thompson, the two top prospects in OTE, will be Bronny’s CBC team’s opponent in one game.

Amen and Ausar Thompson, who are both anticipated lottery pick in 2023, as well as Naasir Cunningham, the top small forward in the junior class, are some of the top players with OTE.

OTE Schedule

The 2022–23 Overtime Elite calendar was revealed, and it will begin on October 20 in Atlanta. Following the announcement of the expansion, a number of elite athletes, including Jared McCain, the Boozer twins, Freddie Dilione (2023), Isaiah Elohim (2024), Jason Asemota (2024), and many more, will play at OTE Arena during the season.

Jared McCain, the Boozer twins, and the California Basketball Club will compete against the City Reapers, Cold Hearts, and YNG Dreamerz in the opening weekend’s must-see event.

The six OTE teams will play 15–18 regular season games left in the regular season before the playoffs start on Friday, February 17. This season’s finals will consist of a best-of-five series and get underway on March 3rd.

How much do players in Overtime Elite get paid?

Players in the Overtime Elite earn at least $100,000 annually. However, individual player salaries vary.

Gortman, a five-star recruit in his high school class, is said to be making $650,000 on his OTE contract, for instance.

As was already mentioned, OTE also offers a scholarship scheme that gives some prospects a different path within the league to keep their college eligibility. Should they decide to change their minds and want to play in the NCAA, they can get up to $100,000 to put toward their tuition.
