One Thing Chargers Brandon Staley Isn’t Worried About Is His Position As The Coach
After their historic playoff loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend, LA Chargers head coach Brandon Staley claims he is ‘not bothered’ about rumours surrounding his future.
On Saturday night, Staley’s Chargers suffered the third-largest playoff comeback in NFL history as the Jaguars overcame a 27-point deficit to win 31-30 and secure their spot in the Divisional Round.
Los Angeles responded to the terrible evening by firing offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and quarterback coach Shane Day.

One Thing Chargers Brandon Staley Isn’t Worried About Is His Position As The Coach
The Los Angeles Chargers head coach, Brandon Staley, talked to the media on Wednesday morning, his first news conference since the Chargers’ 31-30 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Wild Card Round on Saturday night, when they blew a 27-point lead, the biggest in franchise history.
“I thought it was a high-quality game against two teams that are both young and hungry. And so I thought it was just a high-level game all the way around,” Staley said Wednesday.
Brandon Staley confirms he will still call defensive plays in 2023.

“I thought that there were some penalties in the game that really swung the momentum of the game in the second half, and we just didn’t make enough winning plays,” Staley said. “And that starts with me, in all three phases. I needed to coach better in all three phases in order to help us finish that game, and I didn’t do a good enough job, and I take full responsibility.”
Tom Telesco, the general manager of the Chargers, and Brandon Staley will both be back in 2019.

Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite, and quarterbacks coach Shane Day have all reportedly lost their jobs.
Lombardi spent two years as offensive coordinator after joining Staley’s team upon his appointment as head coach in 2021, while Day – who also held the title of passing game coordinator – was also hired that year.
It should not go unnoticed how many #Chargers players publicly defending, trusting & believing in Brandon Staley.
Justin Herbert & Derwin James, faces of the franchise, along with several others, made their feelings clear.
Staley is their HC. It’s hard to fight against that.

“What I would tell the fans is that I’m just as disappointed as they are, but I’m really excited to get this process started,” Staley said.
