The fans of LSU made it very evident during Senior Night celebrations that they wanted Reese to return for one last, third season. The relationship between Reese and the 7-foot-1 Hall of Famer was evident as they walked onto the court side by side with the legendary basketball player Shaquille O’Neal. Reese’s mother, Angel, was there, adding to the poignant event. They were wearing similar shirts that said, “Bayou Barbie is my favorite senior.” This show of solidarity alluded to the uncertainties surrounding Reese’s future plans while highlighting the importance of the occasion.

Reese’s choice to enter the professional ranks is still up in the air, even though predictions rank her as a top-10 pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft. Reese has strong links to Louisiana and the opportunity for growth under the NCAA’s Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) guidelines, which are strong arguments for staying despite the draw of a lucrative future in the WNBA.
Whatever her choice, Reese’s experience has already had a lasting impact on LSU basketball. Reese’s legacy is one of talent, tenacity, and deep relationships on and off the court. She went on to win a national title and share heartfelt moments with Shaq and her LSU family. One thing is certain, though, as the basketball community anxiously anticipates her next move: Angel Reese’s influence goes beyond the actual game and will always be felt, no matter where her journey takes her.
