Olivia Dunne Swoons As Boyfriend Paul Skenes Throws 102 mph For Pirates

Olivia Dunne made sure to stand by Paul Skenes when he was in Florida, lighting up the radar gun.

After a strong spring training outing against the Orioles on Thursday afternoon, the top Pirates prospect’s girlfriend showed her love for him on social media.

In the Pirates’ 9–8 loss in Sarasota, Florida, Skenes, 21, who was the first overall pick in the MLB draft the previous year, threw a perfect 1-2–3 inning and reached 102 mph with his powerful fastball against Baltimore.

The game’s high point occurred during the opening at-bat when he faced up against top Orioles prospect Jackson Holliday and got him to ground out on the second pitch of the triple-digit fastball.

The perfect 10-pitch frame was then completed by Skenes with two fly-outs.

The 21-year-old Dunne shared a video of Skenes’ best moments on her Instagram Story, captioning it with “something slight,” maybe as a reference to his lightning-fast fastball.

“I think the biggest thing was just getting out there and pitching in front of people, because adrenaline is a big thing,” Afterwards, Skenes informed reporters, as reported by the Associated Press. “Just kind of wanted to see where we’re at.”

In her segment, Dunne discussed her relationship with Skenes near the end of her interview on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” on Thursday.

“He’s pretty level-headed all the time — that’s what I love about him — and I think we’re a really good pair because of that,” she said. “Because I have such a crazy lifestyle and things get thrown my way all the time. Sometimes, my emotions can sway and he’s very level, and I just think it’s a very good match.”

The couple, who made their relationship public in the latter part of the summer following his trip to the Pirates, has enjoyed some fun together, even on social media.

In a recent TikTok, Dunne attempted to play a practical joke on Skenes by informing him about a new endorsement agreement she had signed that featured an undersea oil rig. Rather than being upset or uncomfortable, the former LSU pitcher backed the current LSU gymnast.

Skenes spoke candidly to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette during the summer about his relationship with the internet sensation.

“It’s nice, for sure,” At that point, Skenes said. “It can be a pain in the butt sometimes, to be honest, in terms of actually going somewhere. If one of us went out in Baton Rouge by ourselves, there’s probably gonna be someone there asking for something — picture, autograph, whatever.”
