During a recent car journey with her husband, golfer Brooks Koepka, Jena wasn’t expecting to find out whether she would be featured in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit or not.

The 34-year-old Sims received a message on her phone as the couple parked into a friend’s driveway for a pre-tournament supper while traveling to Orlando last month to support Koepka at LIV Golf’s most recent event – days before the next SwimSearch announcement was scheduled to drop.

“For some reason just checked my email right then and there, and it just was like, ‘Congratulations, you’ve made the top 12,’” these were Sims’ words and happiness after entering the next round of the publication’s annual model search.

She laughed and said that:-

“I stopped everything I was doing, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I made top 12.’ And he [Koepka] was like, ‘I love you so much, you deserve this, congratulations, now what’s the gate code.’”

Days after learning that she had advanced to the final round of this year’s SwimSearch, the winner of which will be featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue of 2024, Koepka won his second individual LIV Golf championship.

After that showing, he had a tantalizing performance at the 2023 Masters, when he tied for second place with Phil Mickelson at 8-under after leading the field through the first three rounds of the major.

Jena is taking it all in as her career with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit progresses, much like Koepka.

Sims said:-

“It’s been a dream that I’ve always wanted to go after”

Jena was motivated to participate in the SwimSearch because the outlet’s beliefs matched her own. The renowned journal places a strong emphasis on body positivity and empowerment.

By giving a statement, Sims said of her organization, which works to promote and assist young people and children who face obstacles in being celebrated for who they are, “Since they have been more focused on inclusiveness and body positivity, I think that just so closely mirrors the mission of the Pageant of Hope”

“Everything that they’re doing, I knew I would be a really good fit for that. So I applied last year and it wasn’t my time, but this year, let’s hope and keep the ball rolling.”

On May 12, the 12 remaining finalists will find out if they made it to the top six.

A victor will then be declared in September to serve as the first rookie of the 2024 issue.

Sims’ pals have advised her to “trust the process” and enjoy the journey, including Sports Illustrated Swimsuit alums Kristen Louelle and Summer Wilson.

She continued:-

“I have a fun core group of girls who have been able to give me advice and just help me throughout this process because there are unknowns when applying for S.I. Swimsuit”

Sims’ friends advised her to “be patient” as information poured in because of the gaps between the deadline for submissions in November 2022 and the top-24 revelation in March.

She said, “They gave me really good advice to just breathe, trust the process.”

Whatever happens, there’s no denying that Sims is living in an interesting period right now. She has paired up once again with OneOne Swim, who she first worked with last year, to curate a swimwear collection.

“I’ve got neons and sparkles and neutrals, but I think there’s something for everybody,” as she gave the description of her next style.

Koepka continues to be Sims’ biggest fan and is “very encouraging,” despite the fact that Sims sought feedback on her designs via social media during the creation process.

Following Koepka’s choice to join LIV Golf last summer, the couple, who will commemorate their first wedding anniversary in June, has been able to spend more time together.

Sims stated, “We go to tournaments a little bit later in the week than we had previously on the PGA Tour,” pointing out that the 54-hole competitions on the Saudi-sponsored circuit start on Fridays as compared to Thursdays with PGA.
