Nuggets Star Nikola Jokic Was Eager To Go Home But It Seems Like He Is Stuck Till The Parade
Nikola Jokic, who was just named NBA Finals MVP, is doubtful if he will be able to make it to Thursday’s parade of champion Denver Nuggets players. Jokic appears to have already made plans for his offseason, which include horse racing.

There is just one issue preventing Joki from going back to his Serbian homeland of Sombor. The Nuggets will march through downtown Denver on June 15 to commemorate their victory, as is customary for any NBA champion who returns home with a trophy. The Joker was obviously not pleased to learn that he would have to stay for the celebrations.

He was obviously delighted to have won the championship, but his joy seemed to be tempered by a sense of relief that the campaign was done. In his walk-off interview, he responded to Lisa Salters‘ question about how it feels to be a champion “the job is done, we can go home now.”
Jokic looked like a man who just learned he had to rearrange some non-refundable travel plans when he was told that the Nuggets title parade is not until Thursday during his postgame interview at the podium.
Matt Winer NBA TV: "You've got a parade coming up here on Thursday. How soon til you're back in Sombor (Serbia)?"
Nikola Jokic: "Yes! I need to go home. Sundays I have my horseracing in my hometown–maybe, I don't know how I'm gonna arrive (scratches chin). Thursday parade,… pic.twitter.com/HbJhrqlZxF

Jokic’s response could only be characterized as total and utter dejection.
When Jokic tried to check to see if Novak Djokovic had texted him to congratulate him, his phone blew up, and he threw it away in anger. This added to his difficult night of disclosures upon the platform.

Nikola Jokic has done so much for the Denver Nuggets, including winning an NBA title, that the Kroenkes probably wouldn’t mind letting him use the club jet to get there in time to see his horse race!
Having led the Nuggets to their first-ever NBA championship, Jokic, a 28-year-old big man, has earned the right to return to Serbia as soon as possible. He led the team in points, assists, and rebounds during the whole tournament.

Jokic led the club in points with 28 and rebounds with 16, while also contributing four assists in the pivotal fifth game, which the Nuggets won 94-89.
