Hartman kept the rib instead of having the physicians throw it out, storing it in the freezer for a future purposes.
The extracted rib will soon be turned into a necklace, according to Hartman.
“The rib is good. It’s actually clean. It looks like a fossil-type deal. It is well on its way to becoming a necklace. I think we’re a couple of weeks out from finalizing it. Just making sure that we take great care of it and make sure that it stays in one piece,” Hartman said Thursday on “The Paul Finebaum Show.”

Hartman said that his mother made the necklace, even though he doesn’t intend to wear it frequently.
In July, Lisa Hartman stated, “It’s to get rid of the flesh that was on the rib.” “He means everything to me, so if he wants me to scrape the flesh from his ribs, I’ll do it.
“It doesn’t look anything like it used to. It’s nice and white and clean. It looks like something that can be hanging on a necklace.”
Last fall, a blood clot almost ended Sam Hartman's football career.
