“No More French Fries”: Stephen Curry’s Warriors’ Handing Out Humiliating Loss Leads to 3X NBA All-Star Give Up Junk Food
When he questioned his young teammate Anthony Edwards’ diet earlier this week, Minnesota Timberwolves big star Karl-Anthony Towns caused quite a fuss. As it turns out, Towns isn’t the only NBA player paying attention to their eating patterns. The Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum admitted that one of his main changes following the team’s defeat to Stephen Curry and his Golden State Warriors in the Finals last season was modifying how and what he eats.
Many people in Jayson Tatum’s sphere of influence noted something similar during the summer: He’s different. But after his first appearance in the NBA Finals, many who knew him noticed something different. Individual achievements weren’t mentioned as frequently. Success did.

Tatum’s comments: “That was part of something I wanted to change from my experience in the Finals and my level of fatigue. I talked to my trainer and was like, ‘I want to eat better, I want to change my diet.’ I’ve never been on a diet, I’ve always been able to eat what I want, but I’m just trying to find ways to give myself and edge. Eating more consistently, eating better, losing body fat, trying to gain muscle. Getting a chef and having him prepare three meals a day.”
“Not so much any more fried food like french fries, Yeah, no more [Popeye’s]. No, because anything that will help me play better, I can start today. So it’s not gonna be hard.”
Between the regular season and the playoffs, Tatum logged 3,714 minutes last year, and both he and the club as a whole appeared to run out of steam at the conclusion of their arduous postseason journey. Last season, Tatum had a wide range of maneuvers at his disposal. This one could have an infinite depth. However, the loss to Stephen Curry and his Warriors affected him a lot.

Under the close supervision of veteran trainer Drew Hanlen, Tatum shot thousands of floaters throughout the summer after being dissatisfied with their effectiveness the previous season.
