No Charges Against Josh Giddey’s Inappropriate Relationship With Minor, Investigation Closed

On November 19, a video of OKC Thunder guard Josh Giddey allegedly having an inappropriate interaction with a minor went viral online, sparking serious accusations.

No Charges Against Josh Giddey’s Inappropriate Relationship With Minor, Investigation Closed

TMZ Sports revealed on Wednesday that Giddey has been cleared of all charges and that the case has been closed, despite the Newport Beach police conducting an investigation.

Despite social media criticism, no hard evidence was produced to support claims against the Thunder guard. Contextualising the issue further was hampered by claims that the minor girl’s family was unwilling to talk.

Giddey won’t be charged and the investigation is being closed by the police department after no supporting evidence was discovered. The three-month inquiry, which was prompted by the internet claims involving the 21-year-old NBA player, concluded, according to KTLA5.

Josh Giddey’s case is closed after “no evidence” was found against him.
In November, images of Giddey with a young woman went viral. Giddey met the girl at an 18-and-over nightclub in Southern California, and based on details of their interaction, the rising singer from Oklahoma City thought the girl was 19.

Giddey allegedly stopped talking to her after learning that she was underage. Later, when the Newport Beach Police Department was conducting an investigation, she declined to assist them.

When the name of an NBA player is linked to grave accusations, the league will always take notice. One of the league’s key responsibilities is handling situations like these in order to preserve its legitimacy and treat its players with respect.

However, according to TMZ Sports, the NBA chose to send the case over to the police. Whether Josh was guilty or not, fans are left feeling mixed about the outcome of Giddey’s accusations.

The 21-year-old Giddey has refrained from responding to the accusations. Coach Mark Daigneault of Oklahoma City called the accusations a “personal matter” in late November. He would not go further, just stating that the Thunder’s facts led them to decide that Giddey should play on.

Since the charges became public, Giddey has been subjected to regular jeers during away games. He is averaging 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game for the 27-13 Thunder.
