Nikola Jokic married to his highschool sweetheart Natalija Jokic

In June 2023, when Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets steps onto the court for the NBA Finals for the first time, his wife Natalija will undoubtedly be around to support him.

Jokic, who was awarded back-to-back league MVP honors in 2021 and 2022, always sports his wedding ring on his shoelaces.

According to the NBA, the 28-year-old center claimed he got the concept from a former colleague in his native Serbia and uses it to stay in touch with his family while playing.

When Jokic steps onto the court for Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat on Thursday, June 1, in the Mile High City, he’ll probably continue the tradition.

On her personal Instagram feed, which has more than 29,000 followers, Natalija frequently discusses the family’s achievements even though the five-time NBA All-Star maintains a quiet profile off the court.

Nikola Jokic and Natalija prefer to keep their private life out of the media’s eye

The Denver Post said that the couple typically spends the NBA offseason in their homeland of Sombor, Serbia, and that Jokic is guarded about his personal time there.

In fact, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone, then-club president Tim Connelly, and some team members surprised the 7-footer in Sombor to hand-deliver the trophy after Jokic earned his second consecutive MVP award in May 2022.

Natalija assisted the team’s brass in pulling off the surprise, and Jokic took the prize from a Sombor horse stable.
When Jokic isn’t setting records on the court, it’s all just a part of the couple’s straightforward existence in Serbia.

Jokic said he celebrated “with my wife at home” after being named the Western Conference Player of the Month in February 2021, adding, “… I mean, that’s what I did.”

Natalija occasionally travels with Jokic and attended both of his back-to-back All-Star games in 2019 and 2020, which were held in Charlotte and Chicago, respectively.

“All-star of my heart,” she captioned a photo on Instagram in 2019.

The marriage ceremony of this highschool sweetheart

On October 24, 2020, Jokic and Natalija exchanged vows in Sombor, Serbia, the location of their wedding.

The NBA shifted its season to the bubble in Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic, thus the wedding was postponed from its planned June 2020 date.

The hometown-meets-hometown high school sweethearts got engaged in January 2020.

In January 2023, Jokic told Serbia’s Arena TV, “I think all of us who have a wife and kids should be happy with the persons we have beside us.”

“When you have a normal life, it lifts you up and only helps you.”

In September 2021, Jokic and Natalija gave birth to a girl they called Ognjena.

Jokic’s games are frequently attended by Natalija and Ognjena.

TNT cameras filmed Jokic and his daughter having a tender moment after the Nuggets defeated the Phoenix Suns in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals in May 2023.

When Jokic was pursuing his first NBA championship, Ognjena, who was in the crowd with her mother and was sporting her dad’s No. 15 jersey, appeared to point to her ring finger. The star center then mimicked the move.
