Nick Castellanos, Reds outlast Rockies in 12 innings

Nick Castellanos homered and hit a go-ahead double in the 12th inning, and the visiting Cincinnati Reds beat the Colorado Rockies 6-5 in Denver on Saturday night.
Ryan McMahon homered and Yonathan Daza had two hits for Colorado.
Castellanos put the Reds ahead with a double off of Antonio Santos (0-1) to begin the 12th, and he moved to third on pinch hitter Nick Senzel’s single. Eugenio Suarez drove in Castellanos with a groundout.
The Rockies got a run in the bottom of the inning on a groundout by Raimel Tapia.
The Reds went ahead in the 11th on Farmer’s third home run of the season, a two-run shot. In the bottom of the inning, McMahon drew a walk and Josh Fuentes hit a two-run double to tie it.

The Rockies went ahead in the first when Tapia led off with a double and moved to third on a fly-out.
After a strikeout, McMahon launched a pitch into the second deck in right-center field to give Colorado a 2-0 lead. It was his ninth homer of the season.

Cincinnati came back in the third inning. Pitcher Tyler Mahle drew a one-out walk, and Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin fanned Jesse Winker, Castellanos homered to left to tie it at 2-2. It was Castellanos’ 10th homer of the season.
Tucker Barnhart led off the fourth with a single but was wiped out on a double play. It was the eighth ground ball out for Chacin, who left after the fourth inning. He allowed two runs on four hits with a walk and struck out three.
Both teams had chances to go ahead. Colorado reliever Robert Stephenson got the first two outs of the seventh before two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases. Justin Lawrence came on and got Winker to ground out.
Garrett Hampson led off the bottom of the inning with a triple off Sims but couldn’t score. Elias Diaz flew out, Charlie Blackmon fanned and Tapia grounded out.
