“Ngannou Has the Nuclear Option”- Joe Rogan Breaks Down a Potential Fight Between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou
At the moment, the UFC’s heavyweight division is perhaps the most stacked with talent that it has ever been. The champion Francis Ngannou sits atop a throne the likes of Tom Aspinall, Tai Tuivasa, and Curtis Blaydes, among others, are gunning for. This does not include fighters such as Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic who have been on the sidelines for a while now.
Reports suggest that Ngannou will face the winner of Stipe Miocic vs Jon Jones, which is set to take place in September this year. In a recent podcast, Joe Rogan revealed who he thinks would win in a fight between Jones and Ngannou and how that fight would play out.
He said, “You never know. Jon Jones is a tough guy to bet against, but he’s never really fought a heavyweight. He’s trained with heavyweights for sure. Ngannou has the nuclear option on any person that lives. Any person that lives, if Ngannou…if he catches you with one of those one he hit Rozenstruik with, or that he knocked out Stipe with or the Alistair Overeem left hook…That Alistair Overeem one was one of the most disturbing punches I have ever seen a guy get hit with.”
The podcast maestro continued, “Because he was off before, like he went to the ground. He got shut off immediately and his head went almost all the way back…His head went back while he was standing up.”
Francis Ngannou vs Jon Jones will be a big night for the UFC; here’s why it might not happen
Jones and Ngannou are both currently disgruntled with their UFC contract and both have been extremely vocal about it. However, ‘The Predator’ will be a free agent at the end of this year and since he holds the belt, he will have significant leverage in negotiations. He has maintained that the ability to box will be the deciding factor in whether or not he wants to resign with the UFC.
Dana White has made it known very publicly that he does not share the same vision. Therefore, if Dana White and Francis Ngannou are not able to come to terms, fans might never see the super fight between two heavyweight giants.
