NFL’s Highest-Paid Quarterbacks 2023: Salary, Guaranteed Money & Total Contract Value
Elite NFL quarterbacks don’t have an issue with money.
Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers all make a tonne of money playing one of the most profitable positions in sports, so they have more in common than simply the quest for another Super Bowl title.
Despite the 39-year-old quarterback’s future with the Green Bay Packers still being up in the air, Rodgers, the highest-paid player in the NFL this season, is slated to earn a staggering $50.3 million in 2023.

Russell Wilson, who allegedly signed a five-year, $245 million contract with the Denver Broncos in September that included $165 million in guarantees, is listed after Rodgers in the pecking order.
Wilson, a nine-time Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl champion, is currently the second highest-paid quarterback, earning an average of $49 million annually. Let’s take a look at who sits behind him and Rodgers:

Which NFL quarterback makes the most guaranteed money?
No NFL quarterback has a higher guaranteed salary than Deshaun Watson. This is unlikely to change anytime soon since the Browns, who annoyed other clubs by guaranteeing Watson’s whole $230 million deal, did so.
Maybe Lamar Jackson, who wants a lot of money guaranteed in his next contract, will take on Watson in the end. Nevertheless, as things stand, no other quarterback receives guarantees totaling more than $189.5 million (Kyler Murray).

Josh Allen has the largest amount of money guaranteed on his contract—$150 million—going into the 2022 NFL offseason. After Watson, Murray, Russell Wilson, and Aaron Rodgers passed him with their lucrative contract extensions, he is currently ranked sixth.

Which NFL quarterback has the largest overall contract?
Although Patrick Mahomes may have failed in the first two categories on this list, he is not expected to fail in this area any time soon.
Mahomes joined the Chiefs in July 2020 and is now playing on a $450 million, 10-year deal. The contract, which is $192 million more expensive than Josh Allen’s, is the second-largest quarterback contract and will keep him under contract through his age-36 season in 2031.
Josh Allen had 19 total turnovers in 16 games in 2022
Dak Prescott had 16 total turnovers in 12 games
1.18 per game for Allen
1.33 for DakA difference of .15 per game, or one more every 6.6 games for Dak
But Allen is elite? And Dak is trash bc of his turnovers for 1 year? 🧐 pic.twitter.com/4flqHiwPrj

It seems obvious that Mahomes would be an outlier on this list since he is a remarkable talent who has won two NFL MVPs and two Super Bowls in his five years as a starter.
That said, the $200 million range is becoming a more common landing spot for top quarterbacks. With Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and Justin Herbert all due contract extensions in short order, $200 million may soon end up being the baseline for top-10 quarterbacks.
Top NFL quarterback contracts in total value
Rank | Player | Value |
1 | Patrick Mahomes | $450 million |
2 | Josh Allen | $258 million |
3 | Russell Wilson | $242.6 million |
