NFL Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall Has MetLife Stadium Turf To Blame For His Career’s Failure

During his 13-year career, Marshall played for eight different teams, including the Broncos, Bears, Dolphins, Jets, Giants, Seahawks, Saints, and Steelers. Marshall feels that the playing surface’s quality had a key role in his demise.
4th round selection in the 2006 NFL Draft, Marshall established himself as one of the top wide receivers of his era.

The 2017 season Marshall spent with the New York Giants ended up being a turning point in his career. He played for the squad for only five games before suffering an ankle injury that ended his season and eventually halted his progress. Marshall’s stint with the Giants came to an abrupt end after the injury in Week 5.
Marshall subsequently became a free agent after the Giants, moving to Seattle, where he participated in just six games in 2018. Marshall, 35, retired from professional football in 2019 after struggling to make an impression in Pittsburgh and New Orleans.

Marshall talked openly about the impact of the MetLife Stadium turf on his significant injury during the Doctor Mike interview posted on YouTube. He stated the opinion that the ankle injury he had while playing for the Giants was essentially the “last” of him and that, had it not been for that critical second, he may have continued playing for additional years.
“That was pretty much the last of me,” Marshall said of the ankle injury that ended his Giants career. “I felt like I could’ve played a couple of more years, you know? That play was over.”

“I snapped my deltoid,” Marshall said. “That’s really hard to do. That’s like a car accident. I knew it was over.”
Marshall played for the Giants, Jets, Bears, Broncos, Dolphins, Seahawks, and Saints throughout the course of his 13-year playing career. He hauled in 970 passes for 12,351 yards and 83 scores.
