NFL Veteran Reacts To Video Of OC Bill O’Brien Ripping A Rookie

A video showing Kayshon Boutte, a rookie for the New England Patriots, appearing to get a reprimand by OC Bill O’Brien during practice has surfaced.

NFL Veteran Reacts To Video Of OC Bill O’Brien Ripping A Rookie

In April, Boutte was chosen with the 187th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. According to the pre-draft rankings, the LSU wide receiver was projected to go higher but instead fell to the sixth round.

Boutte participated in the organized team activities (OTAs) in May in an effort to stand out and land a spot on the Patriots roster. However, a video that looked to have been recorded during a training session has recently surfaced on social media.

After serving as Alabama’s offensive coordinator for two years, Bill O’Brien has returned to New England and hasn’t missed a beat.

It was not especially unexpected to watch O’Brien go off on the Patriots’ offence during OTAs in a video that NFL Rookie Watch released on Twitter because O’Brien does not hold back when ranting at his players. However, it was later removed without warning.

This isn’t LSU bullsh*t, O’Brien allegedly said at Boutte, according to NFL Rookie Watch. Please stop talking and get in line.

Whatever the reason for its removal, a lot of people were upset by the Bill O’Brien footage. Defensive back Jalen Mills, an LSU graduate who has played in the NFL for eight years and spent the last two seasons with New England, responded to the tweet.

“Why post this? Why even is this relevant? Patriots defensive back Jalen Mills asked on Twitter. “You would think we should work on building up these young players rather than tear them down before they even start their careers.”

Although it’s unclear if the video truly shows O’Brien going after the former LSU receiver explicitly, Mills’ answer was a demonstration of solidarity for Boutte. If it was, Boutte is far from the first NFL rookie to be reamed out while participating in an OTA exercise. The nature of the company requires it.
