NFL Trade Rumors: LA Rams to trade Cam Akers? Where will the RB play next?
Cam Akers, a former starting running back for the Los Angeles Rams, may have played his final down with the team if the situation continues to be as it has been so far this season.
Akers is not participating in today’s game due to what has been described as personal issues. According to sources, Akers and head coach Sean McVay have philosophical and football-related disputes. The head coach has not commented on Akers’s future, and reliable sources indicate that the professional in his third year could be on his way out.
There is a widespread consensus that he will garner major trade interest, and the club is prepared to entertain such deals provided that they involve enough compensation.
Akers will not play for the defending champion Rams in their game against the Panthers on Sunday. Head coach Sean McVay confirmed this decision on Friday when he was asked about it “I would say that we are mostly focusing on dealing with matters on an internal level. This is a somewhat uncharted area, and I believe the most important thing is to keep it internal out of respect for the circumstance. We do not want to discuss it publicly at this time.”

In addition, McVay stated, “He’s going to be OK.”
The Rams will deploy running backs Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson today, in addition to recently upgraded undrafted rookie Ronnie Rivers, who has impressed and should receive several carries because of it.
Akers established himself as the primary ball carrier for the Rams during his rookie year in 2020, averaging 4.3 yards per carrying and putting himself in a position for a breakout performance in 2021.

Akers had an Achilles tendon tear prior to the start of the season, but because of a miraculous recovery, he was able to play for the rest of the season and in the Super Bowl. When it comes to talent, there is no doubt that Akers possesses it. According to the sources, his current athletic performance numbers are higher than they were before he injured his Achilles. His condition deteriorated as a result of two fumbles that occurred against the Buccaneers in the playoffs of the previous season, which led to frustration on the part of all involved parties.
According to our sources, both Akers and McVay have maintained a friendly line of communication, and Akers has not been the source of any conflicts within the locker room. However, concerns regarding his function, his place in the team’s hierarchy, and his standing among the running backs have continued to be voiced.
That brought everyone up to this week, where Akers is scheduled to be out of action. According to one of our reliable sources, there is always a chance that Akers will pull himself together and decide what to do with McVay.
But if things don’t take a drastic shift, Akers might be going in a different direction.
