NFL Rumors: Josh McDaniels’ Wife Made Him Give Up Colts Head Coach Job Because Of Jim Irsay

Josh McDaniels had a rather dismal first year as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, but there’s a chance he would not have gotten the chance to coach the Raiders at all if certain things had worked out differently in 2018. McDaniels was scheduled to become the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, but he ended up walking out on them, forcing them to hire Frank Reich instead.

Josh McDaniels spent the most of his career playing with the New England Patriots. The former offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach was hired as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders after the 2021 season. Even though the squad missed the playoffs, McDaniels was contemplating other offers as well.

McDaniels reportedly considered working for the Indianapolis Colts as well. However, it appears that his wife asked him to decline that specific offer. The cause? Jim Irsay, owner of the Colts, spent a “very long & awkward stretch of time” in their restroom as a family.

Pro Football Talk at the time claimed that McDaniels had “fear” about working with Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts.

“PFT had heard in recent days that McDaniels did indeed have those concerns, but that efforts were made to persuade McDaniels to make the leap of faith,” per PFT. “He did so reluctantly, and then he didn’t. And now, as one source put it to PFT, there will be a ‘major storm of shit’ over this one.”

Now, almost five years later, we are learning additional specifics about those “concerns,” which revolve on Irsay using the restroom for an excessive amount of time while paying a visit to McDaniels and his family at their Massachusetts home.

A few supporters made mockery of the entire situation and stated that they did not want McDaniels to join their club in the first place.

Given that, assuming this occurrence is real, McDaniels’ wife may have some knowledge of his role as an NFL coach. Since they first connected in 2000, the pair has created a life together. Thus, Laura has been there beside Josh ever since he began working for the New England Patriots.
