Anthony Richardson, a quarterback for the Florida Gators and a likely first-round choice in the NFL draughts, offered some advice to NFL coaches and general managers in a Players Tribune essay.

NFL Draft 2023: Florida QB Anthony Richardson Writes A Letters To NFL Coaches & GM

Dear coaches and general managers,

I am aware that draught night is a significant occasion for both you and myself and my family. What it will mean for me to hear my name shouted on that platform is something I don’t take for granted. Football isn’t the only topic here. It modifies one’s life.

I just wanted to take this final chance to tell you a little bit more about my experience before everything is finalised. I want you to understand who I am and why I play this game if you’re going to wager on me.

One of the top players to declare for the NFL Draught in recent years is Anthony Richardson. More than any other quarterback prospect in recent memory, his game has also likely been dissected and critiqued the most.

He could be the ultimate boom-or-bust player, to put it briefly. The potential for superstardom exists. A massive bust is also a possibility. That’s what has probably kept NFL coaches and general managers up at night as they consider their options for selecting this athletic marvel at the draught.

Richardson wrote a piece in The Players Tribune on Thursday addressed to those same general managers and coaches in which he discussed his dilemma.

Richardson goes on to talk about his life, his Uncle Tanka, and how he helped the young guy develop and mature to the point where he may play in the NFL.

I made a promise to myself that I was going to do everything in my power to get to the NFL.- Anthony Richardson

Overall, it’s a heartwarming glimpse into the life of a young guy who, despite his shortcomings on the field, has worked hard and followed the correct path to get where he is now.

My family, man…. I owe them everything. It’s funny, when I was younger, my mom used to interview me on long car rides, like I was at a press conference or something. I’d be like, “Why are we doing this?” And she’d say, “You’re gonna need it one day.” And now I look at where I am, and I’m just grateful that she believed that I could be somebody. And my friends, the ones I’ve been rockin’ with since fourth and fifth grade — the people who never switched up on me and kept it real with me from the start — I owe them, too. My mentors and my support team, they all know what I’ve been through, they know what my life was like and what this next step means.

Where I’m from, I don’t know any kid who plays ball and doesn’t see himself going all the way to the league. And I always had the same dream. Me and my uncle connected over this game from the day he gave me my first Nerf Ball. So I just want to make the most of this opportunity, and inspire the kids who are going through what I went through and might have a story like mine. I want to show them that they can go anywhere they want to go in life. This isn’t just about doing something for me. It’s bigger than that.

So, to all the coaches and GMs who are reading this: See you at the draft. If you call the name Anthony Richardson, I promise that you won’t regret it.

Richardson will undoubtedly be chosen by a team, and it may be the Tennessee Titans who will receive him on April 16 for a top-30 visit. There is no question that Richardson will give that squad everything he has, so let’s hope that he achieves his maximum potential for both his sake and the sake of his new club.
