The NFL announced on Wednesday that talks have begun on whether to resume Week 17’s Bills-Bengals game, which was postponed after Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during the first quarter of the game.

NFL EVP of football operations Troy Vincent said during the call that “everything is being considered” regarding the Bills-Bengals game. Vincent said the league will lean on the guiding principles it used during the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the COVID-19 pandemic, including the “value of winning and winning percentage” in order to give Commissioner Roger Goodell suggestions on how to proceed if the game were not to be resumed.
As of Tuesday morning, the NFL has made no announcement on a possible rescheduled date for the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills game from Monday night. After a tense scene in which Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and ultimately needed to be rushed to the hospital, the game was called soon after 10 p.m. EST. Hamlin experienced a heart attack and is currently in serious condition, according to the Bills.
According to a Buffalo Bills source, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will probably postpone the Buffalo Bills’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The game is crucial to the AFC playoff picture since both teams have a chance to win the conference and earn the top seed.
Roger Goodell to take a decision in the next few days after Damar Hamlin injury
As both sides choose not to play, the crucial contest became more about Hamlin’s safety. The Week 17 game was officially canceled by Goodell and the league office.
Breaking News: Of course the game is secondary to #DamarHamlin’s health, but #Bills insider @viccarucci just reported on @wgrz Daybreak that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will make the call on rescheduling the Bills/Bengals game and it would have to be played within 2 days.

The league spoke with media on a conference call just after midnight to discuss the event and how it was handled at Paycor Stadium. According to the NFL, Hamlin is given priority over the timetable in terms of football.
There is another option according to @viccarucci – the league can add a 19th week so the Bills/Bengals can get in all their games. @wgrz https://t.co/1X1hCHVN8c

It will be difficult to reschedule the game because it was previously played the day after the primary Sunday slate and because this weekend is the 18th and final week of the season.

If the game is played this week, Goodell may consider Thursday or Saturday as potential dates. However, players for the Bengals and Bills are more concerned with playing a football game than with Damar Hamlin.
