New York Jets Place TE Jeremy Ruckert on Non-Football Injury List
The New York Jets selected Jeremy Ruckert, a native of Long Island and a lifelong Jets supporter, in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Ruckert is a promising young player who will be 22 the following month. Ruckert will play a special role in his debut season with the Jets thanks to a handful of his distinctive qualities.
Ruckert has a foot injury, according to head coach Robert Saleh, who stated as much from rookie minicamp on Saturday through Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. The tight end will be reevaluated the following week, according to Saleh, and the team is optimistic that he will be able to participate in some spring practice.
Jeremy Ruckert wasn’t fit enough to participate in the team‘s offseason program, and he wasn’t prepared when rookies arrived at training camp on Tuesday.

Not a surprise … The third-rounder injured a foot at the Senior Bowl and was limited during the spring.

During his stint at Ohio State, Ruckert hauled in 54 catches for 615 yards and four touchdowns. In this year’s draft, he was selected as the fourth tight end. C. J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin were both free agents whom the Jets signed this summer. With or without Ruckert in the lineup besides them, the two veterans will be in line for a substantial amount of work.
Ruckert enters a wonderful environment to get acclimated as a rookie among newly signed veterans. He offers excellent depth. Ruckert will have opportunities in any of the three tight-end formations. He might get some reps even in certain first- and second-down sets with two tight ends. Ruckert will play this year in LaFleur’s scheme thanks to his skill as a sifter on zone-split runs.
