New York Jets Make a Blisteringly Quick Trade to Replace Injured Breece Hall With James Robinson

The New York Jets are off to a flying start in the 2022 NFL season. Seven game weeks into the season and the Jets have a record of 5-2. However, as is the case with every NFL team in every season, injuries are something that can derail progress massively if the said injury is sustained by a crucial player in the team. In such cases, it is extremely important to have good quality replacements in the team that can ensure weeks of good work does not go to waste.

In the case of the New York Jets, this is exactly what the front office has managed to pull off. Ian Rapoport reported on Twitter saying, “Sources: The #Jets are making a big trade, acquiring #Jaguars RB James Robinson to help replaced injured RB Breece Hall. Draft pick compensation is going back to the Jags.”

Connor Hughes further went on to share the details of what the Jaguars got in exchange. He said, “COMPENSATION UPDATE The #Jets are sending the #Jaguars sixth-round pick that can become a fifth-round pick for RB James Robinson, sources tell @SNYtv”

Breece Hall was having a standout season as a rookie in the NFL, but a season-ending knee injury meant that the Jets had to fill a void quickly. It was the speed at which Joe Douglas and his team got the deal done that has everyone shocked and impressed in equal amounts given that the trade deadline of November 1st is approaching quickly.

Hall has been extremely impressive as a rookie this year. He is eighth in the NFL in rushing with 463 yards, averaging 5.8 yards per carry and scoring a touchdown in four straight games.

Robinson has rushed for 2,177 yards and 18 touchdowns in his three seasons with the Jaguars, including 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns as an undrafted rookie in 2020. His 1,414 yards from scrimmage that season were the most by an undrafted rookie in NFL history. Robinson was a regular starter in his team. However, an injury forced him out of action for a long period of time because of which he lost his starting job and became expendable.
