Alvin Kamara, the running back for the New Orleans Saints, soon rose to the position of being the team’s star performer as the organization entered a new era following Drew Brees’ retirement. The Saints had a carousel at quarterback and were without Pro Bowl receiver Michael Thomas because of an ankle injury, but they still finished second in the NFC South division with a 9-8 record during the regular season.

Although Kamara is still the top fantasy running back and a first-round choice, there are still questions about how much upside he actually has and whether he’ll be ready for all 17 games. Last year, Kamara managed 15 or more PPR points in five of seven games with Jameis Winston and four of six without him, ranking eighth among running backs in terms of PPR.

Kamara is consistently a top-tier option and may perhaps be the number one running back overall in the rankings. He has, however, fallen a few spots on draft cheat sheets going into this season due to an upcoming suspension. Kamara finished top-10 among running backs in fantasy scoring despite missing four games last season.

If Kamara is suspended, his total stats will undoubtedly decline, but we still anticipate him to generate effective scoring for fantasy owners. He is a crucial component of the Saints’ passing attack and is expected to play a significant role in an offense with promise. Missed games might cause him to fall out of the top 10 in scoring, but if he gets back into his groove, ending in the top 15 to 20 is still a possibility.
