Netherlands’ Memphis Depay Takes Shot At Charles Barkley
It may come as a shock to learn that Charles Barkley made a mistake in his forecast.
The American men’s national team would be “opening up a can of whoop-ass” on The Netherlands, according to Barkley, who also predicted that the Americans would shock the Netherlands on Saturday at the 2022 World Cup. Not only were those remarks included in the Dutch pregame hype video, but star forward Memphis Depay outdid Barkley with a tweet following Holland’s 3-1 victory.

“We’re going for it all,” Charles said. “I want Spain. I want Brazil. I want Germany. I want France. Oh, they got my boy [Kylian] Mbappe over there in France. He ain’t no joke, but we’re going to beat The Netherlands.”
Whoops.

“Lotta bark, no bite,” Depay tweeted, with a photo of the final score above a stunned-looking Barkley.
Following his team’s 3-1 victory over the USA on Saturday night, Holland forward Memphis Depay made fun of Charles Barkley on Twitter.

Earlier this week, Barkley expressed optimism about the possibility of a USA shock, stating Gregg Berhalter’s team would be “opening a can of whoop a**” on their opponent and that the Oranje were “in trouble.”
The Hall of Famer’s prediction did not come true, though, as Holland outplayed the USA and they allowed nearly identical goals to be scored by Depay and Daley Blind in the opening period.
