NBC Streams Exclusive NFL Chiefs Game For $110 Million To Increase Peacock Subscriptions
The NFL’s playoff game that will only be streamed online has even shocked the players. Charles Omenihu, a defensive end for the Chiefs, expressed his disappointment on social media that Peacock will be the only broadcast outlet for Kansas City’s wild-card game against the Dolphins on Saturday night.

Evidently, Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu shares this sentiment and is shocked that the enormous game would effectively be streamed on pay-per-view.
He declared earlier this week, “I won’t lie, us playing on peacock ONLY is insane.”
He’s now gone one step further, promising to provide 90 fans with complimentary streaming service memberships so they can watch the game.
Why is the #chiefs and #dolphins game exclusively steaming on @peacock? What exactly went into that decision? A lot of people have questions. The NFL's VP of Broadcast Planning Mike North was on The NFL Report to provide the answers. pic.twitter.com/rrPdeBabbt

“Enter to win by responding to this tweet with your reasons for being chosen. Friday is the day for winner selection. Omenihu posted on X, the old Twitter.
On Saturday night, the Chiefs take on the Dolphins via the NBC streaming service, which is available in roughly 30 million homes—less than half the total viewership of NBC and the other three broadcast networks. Critics of the service include Charles Omenihu, the defensive end for the Chiefs, and sports radio legend Mike Francesa.
In an exclusive interview with The Post, recently appointed NBC Sports president Rick Cordella acknowledged the dismay of his critics but highlighted the platform’s “halo effect,” which features a plethora of other sports and entertainment offerings available to members.
I absolutely hate the NFL forcing Peacock down our throats for a playoff game, Dolphins/Chiefs. Could’ve easily told NBC to keep it on network TV. Total pig move. pic.twitter.com/d45qAStxQr

It was the first time an NFL playoff game has exclusively been available online streaming, according to a Wall Street Journal story from May. NBC Universal and the NFL negotiated a one-year contract for about $110 million for Peacock to have exclusive rights to the Saturday night 8 p.m. game during wild-card weekend.
The local markets will be an exception; viewers in the Miami and Kansas City regions can watch the game on their local NBC stations for free.
NFL playoff games are typically aired on major networks, but this year’s Chiefs vs. Dolphins matchup will only be available on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.
Dude really asked Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins: “Will y'all be subscribing to Peacock TV the Chiefs and Dolphins?” 😂👎 #HowBoutNo pic.twitter.com/EHf93JXv1v

NBC reportedly paid the NFL $110 million to stream the game on their platform, according to many sources. This playoff game will be broadcast solely on a streaming network, a first for the NFL.
This implies that in order for most fans to see former teammates Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill play, they will need to subscribe to the site.
That same day, NBC presented a typical show that drew 14.29 million people, significantly more than Peacock did.
In May, Pete Bevacqua, Chairman of NBC Sports, stated, “We are thrilled to partner with the NFL on this industry milestone, bringing to Peacock the first ever exclusively live streamed NFL Playoff game.”

Given that the Chiefs vs. Dolphins game is possibly the most thrilling of the wild-card round, the choice to broadcast it just on Peacock has drawn criticism.
The Chiefs triumphed 21-14 in their Week 9 match in Frankfurt, Germany, therefore it will be a rematch of that encounter.
