NBA Twitter Cannot Stop Laughing At Steve Kerr’s Funny Handshake

Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, just had the opportunity to get to know his team’s new weapons from the just-completed 2023 NBA Draft. Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis shaking hands with Kerr must be an exciting event for them both, but Warriors and NBA fans on Twitter saw something else that they find humorous.

Even though the video of Steve Kerr’s bizarre east-west handshake is 24 hours old, I can’t quit watching it. or by contemplating it. Or contemplating what motivates someone to shake someone’s hand in that way.

It seemed a little strange in the Warriors’ footage of Kerr shaking the hands of their two draft choices, Trayce Jackson-Davis and Brandin Podziemski. Instead of a traditional handshake, Kerr swings his arm back and forth.

After Kerr shook hands with Jackson-Davis, he and Podziemski made the same motion, albeit considerably differently.

Twitter user @ciaokatie asked, “What is that side-to-side handshake lmao.”

@Isaac_Meckler asked, “Why did Kerr shake BP’s hand like that? ”

Meanwhile, @TheoSlater9 also could not get enough of it: “nah bro ain’t ever gettin minutes, what type of handshake is this 😭”

“I’ve never seen anyone shake hands on the x axis before that’s crazy,” quipped @BirdUntruster.

There are a ton of options. Does Kerr never re-create the same shake? Was it intended to win over Podziemski, a first-round pick, by impressing him? Was it an MLK Ultra mental evaluation to see how Podziemski would respond?

To his credit, Podziemski either doesn’t notice or completely notices but manages to play it off. first day of work, getting to know the new boss, etc. To be honest, that was the proper move.

People would start copying it if Podziemski had made a big deal out of it. It would become popular after first being ridiculed by hipsters who claimed they preferred it over the up-down shake.

There will always be something funny to say on Twitter. Even though some people don’t find it hilarious, they must realize that this isn’t how a handshake is normally given.

Speaking of which, the Los Angeles Lakers eliminated the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs, ending the Warriors’ reign as the league’s undisputed champions.
