NBA Schedule Release Dates & Important Dates For Upcoming Season
In a story published late on Thursday night, Shams Charania of The Athletic shared the NBA’s opening night doubleheader and the league’s Christmas Day schedule for 2023–24.
The Bucks will play Jalen Brunson and the developing young Knicks in the Christmas Day doubleheader at MSG. After that contest, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers will fly to Miami to face the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat.
NBA fans will be treated to the Mavericks playing the Suns, followed by the Warriors travelling to Denver to play the defending NBA champion Nuggets as their after-Christmas presents.

When will the NBA schedule be revealed?
The publication date of the 2023–24 season’s schedule is yet unknown, however, we have a general notion.
While we don’t know each team’s full schedule for the upcoming season, the NBA has shared some key dates:
- Sept. 30: Training camp opens for teams participating in preseason games outside of North America
- Oct. 3: Training camp opens for remaining teams
- Oct. 5: Start of preseason
- Oct. 20: End of preseason
- Oct. 24: Start of 2023-24 regular season
- Nov. 3: NBA In-Season Tournament begins
- Dec. 7: NBA In-Season Tournament Semifinals
- Dec. 9: NBA In-Season Tournament Finals
- Feb. 16-18: NBA All-Star Weekend 2024
- April 14: 2023-24 regular season ends

According to those dates, the 2023-24 season will start six days later and end five days later than last season.
These dates are notable for the 2023–24 season’s six-day start delay compared to the previous season and five-day extension of the season’s finish, which will undoubtedly change the rhythm of basketball passion.
