NBA Begins An Investigation Against Referee Eric Lewis For Having A Burner Account

One of the most well-known officials in the NBA is Eric Lewis. On May 25, however, a Twitter user going by the handle “Pablo Escobarner” claimed to have discovered a “burner account” belonging to the NBA official.

Bryan Colangelo, the general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers, was ousted five years ago as a result of a burner Twitter account incident. The NBA is currently looking into similar accusations.

NBA Begins An Investigation Against Referee Eric Lewis For Having An Burner Account

According to a Friday night story from NBA writer Marc Stein, the league has started an inquiry into a suspect Twitter account that has been suggested to belong to experienced referee Eric Lewis.

“NBA ref Eric Lewis has been outed as having a burner account (@CuttliffBlair). Lmaooo this is a momentous day. The account will surely be deleted soon so for the archives, the entirety of the account’s replies. All involving… yep, Eric Lewis,” The Tweet said.

The tweet displayed a screen capture of the burner account’s actions, all of which were responses to online criticism of Eric Lewis’s work as an NBA referee. The Tweet quickly gained popularity and has now had more than a million views.

When Lewis was in the news for missing one of the most talked-about blown calls of the regular season, his career took an odd turn. When Jayson Tatum made contact with LeBron James at the conclusion of the Lakers-Celtics game in January, Lewis was the official who failed to declare an obvious foul on Tatum. You might recall Patrick Beverley bringing a camera onto the court to show Lewis the play again after James fell to his knees on the court.

During the 2023 NBA Playoffs, Lewis officiated more Lakers games, and the team’s supporters frequently complained about him online.

Moreover, The account has no subscribers. The NBA, NBA Referees, NBA Official, Ref Analytics, and the George Mason Women’s Basketball Team were the only five accounts it followed.

Vanessa Blair-Lewis, Lewis’ wife, is the women’s basketball team’s head coach at George Mason.

Looks super suspicious!
