NASCAR Star Kyle Busch Faces Prison Time For Bringing Gun To Mexico
A Gun was discovered in Kyle Busch’s backpack as he and his wife Samantha boarded a private plane to depart the nation following a holiday, leading to his arrest and detention in Mexico in January.
Kyle Thomas B, a native of Nevada, was “credited with full responsibility in the conduct of the offence of carrying a firearm without a licence and possession of cartridges for the exclusive use of the armed forces,” according to the Mexico Prosecutor General’s office.

According to the prosecutor general’s office, Busch was detained on January 27 and was given a 3.5-year prison term and a $1,100 fine on Monday. The announcement made no mention of how Busch’s sentence will be carried out.

Busch, 37, came in third in the NASCAR Clash exhibition race on Sunday night and stated in a statement that he thought “this problem closed.” He claimed to “adhere to all handgun regulations,” but he also acknowledged in the same statement that he was not aware of the Mexican law that prohibits the ownership of a firearm outside of Mexico.
Busch released a statement late Monday basically saying, ‘My bad.’

“I have a valid concealed carry permit from my local authority and adhere to all handgun laws, but I made a mistake by forgetting it was in my bag,” Busch said.
Six hollow point cartridges were found inside Busch’s revolver, according to the prosecutor general.
After spent the most of his Cup Series career with Joe Gibbs Racing, Busch is entering his first season at Richard Childress Racing. Busch has 223 victories overall throughout NASCAR’s top three series, but he was unable to reach an agreement to prolong his career at JGR after a protracted negotiation.

Busch scored 56 of his 60 career Cup Series victories with JGR, where he also won both of his Cup Series championships. Busch and Kevin Harvick are the only two active full-time Cup Series drivers with more than one championship, and they each have 60 Cup wins between them.
Kyle Busch is a driver for the Richard Childress Racing team and is an iconic driver in the NASCAR circuit. Some of his accomplishments are that he has won 22 NASCAR races and 60 Cup Series.
