Najee Harris Says Steelers’ Need To Bring In House Changes After Playoff Loss
Najee Harris is hoping for some adjustments from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Since 2017, the Steelers have a 0–4 record in the playoffs. Harris lost in the wild-card round for the second time with the Steelers on Monday night, this time to the Buffalo Bills. The 25-year-old is in his third season with the group, but in 2022 they were eliminated from the postseason.
Najee Harris Says Steelers’ Need To Bring In House Changes After Playoff Loss
Following the 31-17 loss, Harris informed reporters that the problems were beyond him:
“I’ve been here three years, obviously. I have my opinions on things, but I’m just a player. But if you want to elevate and get to where we’re at, there’s got to be some in-house things that need to change,” Harris said.

“There’s got to be some in-house things that need to change,” Harris stated. “Coach [Mike Tomlin] always tells me just play running back. That’s a little inside thing that we have, too. But if you want to elevate where we are and achieve those goals that we want, we have to change some in-house stuff. Like I said, that’s not my place, that’s not anything that I can control or do anything about that.”
Harris clarified, as mentioned above, that he isn’t speaking of the coaches, but rather what takes place inside the building at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
“In-house rules. Not no changes or coaches or anything like that. Just the rules that are in the building,” Harris said. “We’ve got to be more disciplined. We’ve got to be more committed. I’m not saying that we’re not, but coming from a place that has structure and coming and just seeing, we could probably get help in these areas; make a change. I think that’s something that could help. I’m not saying anything about coaches or anything like that; I’m saying in-house rules.”

In agreement with Harris’ view, head coach Mike Tomlin reportedly told players at a meeting on Tuesday that, despite rumors to the contrary, he intends to continue leading the club through 2024.
In thirteen seasons, the 51-year-old has never managed a losing season. After a reporter reminded him that he only had one year left on his deal, he departed the postgame press conference on Monday.
Although Harris might not want to discuss the team’s coaches, the staff is ultimately responsible for enforcing the regulations, thus it’s unclear how the Steelers will fully react to their 2023 campaign.
