Mother Of Jamea Harris Files A Suit Of Wrongful Death Against Former Alabama Star Brandon Miller

A man mentioned as a co-defendant in the case was Brandon Miller, a former standout player for Alabama. There are no criminal charges against him. Miller was selected second overall in the June draft.

The case was filed on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama Western Division on behalf of Harris’ mother, DeCarla Heard. It also accused former Alabama players Darius Miles and Michael Davis.

In connection with the shooting death of 23-year-old Jamea Harris in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on January 15, Miles and Davis are charged with capital murder. Miller supplied the pistol used in Harris’s murder, according to police evidence, although he was not prosecuted.

Heard is on record as claiming that when the suspects went to talk to her daughter, who told them she had a boyfriend, the situation that resulted in the fatal shooting started.

According to police evidence, Miles informed Davis, “The heat is in the hat,” when Miller arrived on the scene. According to AL.com, Det. Branden Culpepper stated that indicated the presence of a gun.

When Harris was tragically murdered in Tuscaloosa during the early morning hours of mid-January, she was visiting a family member with her boyfriend.

The Birmingham-based legal practice Farris, Riley & Pitt is Heard’s representation. According to the lawsuit, there was a likelihood of injury if a hazardous weapon was brought to a conflict and discharged, meaning that all three defendants should have understood this.

Later this month, when the NBA regular season gets underway, Miller is expected to start his rookie campaign with the Charlotte Hornets. In July, he inked a four-year deal with the club.

Furthermore, the lawsuit alleges that Harris’s death was the direct or immediate result of each defendant’s wantonness or negligence, which caused her to suffer severe injuries.

However, Miller’s lawyer, Jim Standridge, claimed that his client had neither “knowledge of any intent to use the weapon” nor that there would be any unlawful action with the firearm.

Miller’s lawyer had earlier claimed that his client “never touched the gun, was not involved in its exchange”
