MLB’s New Memo Created Serious Pressure On Batboys & Batgirls: ‘A Little Crazy’
The batboys and batgirls of MLB are now formally in the firing line. If they don’t work quickly enough, they could leave the scene more quickly than Lou Piniella after a botched call at second base!
By now, everyone is aware that the MLB changed the regulations governing the pitch clock in an effort to quicken play. The result has been a unique but highly successful launch during spring training.
MLB’s New Memo Created Serious Pressure On Batboys & Batgirls: ‘A Little Crazy’
According to Jeff Passan, the memo’s main focus was on how the league is altering replay review for suspected infield shift ban breaches. It seeks to prevent teams from raising objections in the anticipation that one of the four infielders could be on the outfield turf. According to the letter, the only aspect of hit balls that can be contested is the defender’s positioning when fielding the ball.
In addition to the new pitch clock, there is now a timer allowing for 30 seconds between batters in MLB. Batboys and batgirls will be expected to collect bats, protective gear and scamper back to the dugout so as not to slow play.

The issues of PitchCom errors, brushback pitchers, “big swings,” pitcher placement when off the mound, leniency for catchers, and batter timeouts were also covered.
The message memo included batboys and batgirls. They will have to perform at their peak else they will be replaced.

“New standards will be enforced for bat boys and bat girls, whose ability to quickly retrieve equipment will help efforts to speed up the game, according to the memo. The league will evaluate the performances of bat boys and bat girls and could ask teams to replace them if their performance is considered substandard.”
The MLB having reviews for batboys but not their terrible umpires is an absolute joke. These dudes are trash

In his most recent communication to all of the league’s teams, many could argue that he is going too far in this direction. Manfred informed clubs that this season, new guidelines for batboys and batgirls will be implemented. Their capacity to promptly collect equipment will be observed. In the event that they don’t work soon enough, they can be replaced.

It’s a lot of strain for someone with little income. Manfred’s action looks incredibly superfluous and extravagant. No game has ever suffered because a Batboy or batgirl can take up items swiftly. Most fans don’t even pay them any attention.
