MLB Rumors: Brian Cashman Says Yankees Made New Offer To Aaron Judge

Aaron Judge can now completely focus on his free agency after he received official word on Thursday night that he had earned the AL MVP award. The number of teams that have contacted Judge is unknown, but the Yankees have made it obvious that they are trying to keep the star right fielder.

Judge infamously rejected the seven-year, $213 million offer from the Yankees during spring training. On Thursday, general manager Brian Cashman said that the team had upgraded its offer to the AL MVP.

Brian Cashman Says Yankees Made New Offer To Aaron Judge

“It’s in real-time, so we’re on the clock,” Cashman said. “We’re certainly not going to mess around. We’ve made an offer since Spring Training, yes.”

Cashman noted that the Yankees team spoke with Aaron Judge about a new deal the day after New York’s campaign came to an end because Judge preferred not to initiate negotiations during the current campaign. Furthermore, Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said that he and Judge have spoken with each other numerous times since the completion of the season.

Steinbrenner told Newsday’s David Lennon, “I’ve absolutely communicated that I want him to be a Yankee for the rest of his life.” “There’s no denying that. He is aware of it!”

Aaron Judge has been rather quiet about his plans, despite the Yankees’ aggressive attempts to lure him back to New York. The right fielder has previously expressed his gratitude for being a member of the team, but he used a more tactful tone when he spoke about his priorities.

During the MVP announcement show, Judge gave his top priorities for what he wants out of the team with which he signs.

“For me, I want to win. I’ve come pretty close with the Yankees,” he said via Brian Hoch. “My ultimate, most important thing is I want to be on a team with a winning culture and a commitment to winning. First and foremost, it’s a winning culture and a winning future.”
