Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson reveals ambition to become ‘NFL Hall of Famer’ upon retirement
Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings is off to a hot start in the NFL. But he’s not entirely happy. On Thursday, Jefferson informed NFL Network’s Patrick Claybon that he had his sights set on a gold jacket.
“I mean, I have so many goals,” Jefferson stated on NFL Total Access. “I have an unending list of things I wish to do.” At the end of the day, I would like to be a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. So, in order to achieve that position, there’s much more that I must achieve, so much more that I must set for myself in order to develop myself and truly learn. I really can’t wait to discover how far I can push myself. This is only the beginning of my career, and there’s so much more I need to learn, so much more I need to accomplish for myself to actually get on that platform of becoming a Hall of Famer.”
Justin Jefferson’s incredible NFL stats so far
Since joining the league in 2020, Justin Jefferson has by far the most receiving yards in a player’s initial two seasons in NFL history, with 3,016 yards. He was the only player in history to have 1,400 yards or more in every one of his first two seasons. He needs 1,148 yards in 2022 to break the NFL record for most yards in a player’s debut three seasons (Randy Moss: 4,163 yards from 1998-2000).
With an average of 15.4 yards per reception, Jefferson has received 27.5 percent of his club’s targets since 2020, trailing just Davante Adams (29.7) and Stefon Diggs (27.7). With Kevin O’Connell as head coach, the Vikings are anticipated to emerge as a stronger pass-dominant club in 2022, which might push Jefferson’s stats even higher.

“Our offensive style is no longer a run-first offence,” Jefferson explained. “Really, it’s just us being able to put various individuals in different locations and distribute the ball.” This crime has piqued my interest. We’re just in OTAs, studying the plays, going over them with our defense, and all that.
“We’re all quite enthusiastic. We’re all relieved to have (O’Connell). With him in the building, there’s obviously different energy, a different connection. We’re just thrilled to get started. We’re curious to watch how this season pans out for us.”
