Mike Tomlin Is Planning To Return In 2024 Post-Steelers Playoff Blowout

Despite having a contract that runs through the 2024 season, there has been much conjecture about Tomlin’s future with the team following an NFL record 17 straight winning seasons as head coach.

Although Tomlin still has one year remaining on his deal and Pittsburgh has shown no desire in changing coaches, there have been rumors that the veteran Steelers coach will step down following this season.

Following the Steel City’s wild-card defeat to the Bills in Western New York on Monday, Tomlin declined to respond to a question on his future there.

Multiple sources state that the head coach of the Steelers told his coaches and players on Tuesday that he intends to return to the position of head coach for the upcoming season.

With one year remaining on his contract, Mike hasn’t shown any signs of desire to leave in recent weeks, a person with direct knowledge of the matter told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Tomlin “just wants to coach football.” The insider said that discussions about contract extensions may heat up this offseason.

Tomlin, 51, is anticipated to talk about his future with his family and Steelers owner Art Rooney II as the team heads into the summer, much as he has done at the end of recent seasons.

The rumors that Tomlin was getting set to enter the already competitive coaching field or that he would take a year off before returning after the 2024 season have been put to rest by the story.
