Michigan’s Roman Wilson Loses Huge Touchdown!
The Michigan Wolverines finally got the play t
hey needed against TCU in their College Football Playoff semifinal clash after struggling to get going in the first quarter, but officials later overruled it in a decision that shocked social media.
In the second quarter of the Fiesta Bowl, officials ruled back a 51-yard touchdown pass from J.J. McCarthy to Roman Wilson because they claimed that Wilson was down at the 1-yard line after catching the pass. Wilson, though, seems to have bobbled the ball up until it crossed the goal line and only took control of it at that point.

While replays do not conclusively show Wilson scoring a touchdown, they also do not conclusively show Wilson failing to enter the end zone. Wilson’s touchdown was reversed by officials for no apparent reason, and Michigan (13-0) immediately handed the ball to Kalel Mullings, who fumbled a handoff, giving TCU (12-1) possession at their own 20 and maintaining the Wolverines’ deficit of 14-3.

I would’ve given Michigan the TD – but Roman Wilson’s knee obviously hit at the 1/2 yard line. This is why you have to appreciate officiating by the letter of the law – you still have to make the half yard and Michigan botched the handoff, lost the ball. The “impossible” happened – Skip Bayless
Roman Wilson was in the end zone by the time he had control of the ball. Somehow it's reversed, and Michigan fumbles at the 1. Wow. It's been one of those games where everything goes wrong.

Roman Wilson bobbles the ball initially, then gains control as he’s falling over the goal line. Questionable overturn, in my opinion. https://t.co/kSE1xmR5v7
