Memphis Grizzlies News: Rapper Moneybagg Yo Reveals Conversation With Ja Morant After The Gun Incident

The 31-year-old rapper Moneybagg Yo opened up about his past and a conversation he had with Morant, who the Grizzlies earlier this month suspended from all team activities after he appeared to brandish a gun once more in a social media video.

“He’s 23. I feel like it’s just a phase,” Moneybagg Yo said of Morant, who was embroiled in a similar gun controversy in March and suspended for eight games.

In an interview with Complex, the 31-year-old rapper expressed his belief that Morant is going through a period and will “snap out” of this behaviour.

Following cryptic Instagram photos that were later removed, Morant made news once more last week.

The cops did a welfare check as a consequence and he was fine.

Ja Morant’s father Tee Morant has been spotted sitting courtside at Grizzlies games alongside Morant, 23, and the Memphis rapper.

“When I was 23-24, I was just doing stuff, and people had to tell me — I had to bump my head and God had to [teach me a lesson]. I’m grateful to make it out [from] those situations. Some people don’t even shake back from certain situations.

“But, I feel like Ja probably don’t even know, like, what it is right now, like he probably don’t even believe this is life, you have those stages.”

Moneybagg Yo added that he also gave “encouraging words” to Morant, who may be subject to a severe ban as a result of the most recent gun-related event.

Shortly after the second video, Morant received a suspension from all Grizzlies operations, and the NBA is looking into the matter.

Many people think that the double punishment is appropriate because he was given an eight-game ban for his initial video at a Denver nightclub.

In a recent statement to ESPN, Morant spoke about the incident.

“I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do,” Morant said, via ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

“My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”
